Columnar Data Store

Columnar data store is a type of big data repository containing structured data in columns and rows. The main benefits are that the data can be highly compressed and is easily searchable.

This emerging big data source is expected to more than double its rate of adoption and eventually exceed well over 40 percent availability in self-service tools within two years, according to insightsoftware’s 2015 State of Self-Service BI Report. Previously, adoption of emerging big data sources was expected to exceed just more than 30 percent over the same future period.
