We talked to Taís Araújo, a Brazilian actress, and activist, during the opening ceremony of Africa Week that started on Sep 25 at Columbia University.

The event co-organized by the African Students Association at Columbia brought in high-caliber guests to speak such as the H.E. Ambassador Dr. Arikans Chihombori-Quao, Permanent Representative of African Union, Mr. Melvin Foote, President & CEO, Constituency for Africa, Honorable Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora and Ambassador Yvonne Khamati, DPR of Kenya Mission to UN offices Nairobi (UNON) and Director Foreign Service.

Furthermore, Adriana Barbosa, Founder of Black Fair was also present in the event.

Taís and Adriana were both selected among the 200 most influential people of African descent, an initiative by MIPAD 100 in support of the International Decade for People of African Descent declared by the United Nations in 2015.
