Cassiano Alves is a Phd Candidate at the Graduate School of Economics (EPGE) at Getulio Vargas Foundation in Brazil and currently is visiting the economics department at Columbia University. His research agenda is focused in optimal tax policies and policy evaluation. Apart his formal research in economics Mr. Alves is interested in education, politics and social policies with particular focus in public policy implementation. His experiences include teaching and economic analysis.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, he holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from State University of Rio de Janeiro. Mr. Alves was awarded with several grants for his academic performance.
After graduation, Mr. Alves plans to contribute to the improvement of the quality of the public policy debate in Brazil and the social and economic development in the country.
